I’ve been working on the same floorplan, give or take, but with 8′ instead of ~11′ long walls and 12 sides instead of 8. This change doesn’t really impact the square footage, and it’s an improvement.
The less acute joining of the walls make the external appearance more harmonious. The walls are still long enough to accommodate generous windows and doors. Shorter walls makes the roof engineering and building easier to manage. It makes the forms smaller and easier to move during construction.
It’s amazing how much that change forces changes of the internal layout of rooms and furnishings. All in all I really like the change. This has been set for a while now, and I haven’t made any changes.
